SOAP Saves Lives & Builds Community

Saturday we piled into ROSA our amazing coaster bus and left Kampala to enter rural regions of Uganda. The traffic patterns are indescribably entertaining, ingeneous and heart stopping. Our team had the amazing privilege to visit KFNL”s soapmaker, John Katumba and his beautiful wife, Grace.

They are the definition of hospitality. It took an hour of off-road driving to reach their new 3 room home. Our whole team of 14 were welcomed with fruit, juices and some special dishes they had prepared for our coming. We were simply overwhelmed by their generosity.

After they had fed us, John talked of how much his soap business has grown since KFNL became his major customer. Not only has his family prospered, but he now employs a number of people to make soap and also his suppliers (charcoal, raw materials, essential oils) all benefit too. The joy in partnering with John is encouraging his entrepreneurial talents and seeing the hated killer Malaria greatly diminished at our partner schools! Win -win!
